Large organizations have complex administrative responsibilities to manage. One of the key opportunities for cost savings tends to be the result of over-licensing on products. When the JV Driver Group recognized that they had a challenge reconciling their thousands of user accounts with current staff numbers, they did the right thing. They brought Will in as a trusted, third-party expert to help.
The Client
JV Driver Group is a private investment company that was founded in 1989. They’ve found great success investing in entrepreneurial companies with several divisions, including automotive, insurance, hospitality, real estate development, and construction. Their diverse portfolio and strong leadership team give them a unique position in the market.
The Problem & Goal
The client was spending a significant amount of their IT budget on licensing for user accounts and knew the numbers were inconsistent. They wanted to identify the accounts that needed cleanup, take care of it accurately, and free up funds for more sensible purposes.
The Scope
Will’s job was to identify how many licensed user accounts existed and how many accounts were needed. From there, he needed to create a solution and build an accurate system to clean up the inactive accounts. This project took place in 2017.
The Solution
After determining the current active accounts and identifying thousands of inactive ones, Will built a proprietary framework for accurate account cleanups. He successfully decommissioned over 2500 accounts with 100% accuracy (not a single account needed to be restored) while saving the client over seven figures in unnecessary Microsoft licensing fees.
Highlights:
- 2500+ inactive accounts decommissioned.
- Account cleanups performed with 100% accuracy.
- 7-figure savings in Microsoft licensing.
- Professional and timely delivery.
